2018/19 Curriculum Overview

At Dodworth St John's our curriculum offer is a bespoke enquiry-based curriculum, constructed around a key 'Big Question'.  Children's learning is built around five of these key questions and each builds to an eventual planned real life experience, allowing children to see and feel a purpose to their learning.
All topics are planned to meet the demands of the National Curriculum and actively promote equality of opportunity, resulting in a positive school culture.  Planning follows the theory of Simon Sinek's Golden Circle.  This sees teaching start with 'Why' to engage children's interest, leading on to 'How' it can be taught, and finally the 'What' ensuring curriculum coverage.
Further information on the 'Big Questions' for each year group can be found below as well as an overview of the planned experiences that will be used to support children's learning.
